Counseling for the Caregivers
Do you spend your time caring for others? Who is taking care of you?
A career in the helping professions can be rewarding, challenging, comical, and draining, sometimes all in a matter of 10 minutes! Keeping up with policy changes and the inevitable politics at play adds to the challenges of your occupation. Compassion fatigue and burnout are real. Experiencing these symptoms doesn’t mean you care less about patients or even that you don’t like your job, but it could mean that it’s time to take care of you!
Caregivers also include those who find themselves taking care of an incapacitated loved one. There are so many emotions at play; of course there is love, but there may be a sense of obligation and pressure, conflict with what your relationship was in the past, and/or grief for the life you thought you and/or the loved one would have.
Whether you want to process what’s going on at work or in your personal life, Take Care of You Counseling Services comes from a place of empathy. Let us be your safe space.
What I love about therapy is that they’ll tell you what your blind spots are…although that (can be) uncomfortable and painful, it gives you something to work with” -P!NK

About Me
Hello and welcome to Take Care of You Counseling Services!
I’m Amie Hanson, owner of Take Care of You Counseling Services, PLLC. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor through the states of North Carolina and Virginia. I graduated from Capella University in 2012 with an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling. I am also a therapist at area nursing homes, which is where I’ve discovered that there is limited support for the caregivers of the world, whether it’s staff or family members. I also have experience being an in-home therapist for kids, a therapist at a Domestic Violence safe house, an in-school therapist through an agency, and being a therapist for private practice.
My previous career was that of a teacher, where I also gained valuable experiences that gave great insight into human behavior.
